Telehealth Primary Care from AIT Health

Telehealth allows patients to speak with a healthcare provider remotely when an in-person exam is not required. It can be a helpful option for busy adults, follow-up visits, medication questions, lab result discussions, and certain non-emergency symptoms.

AIT Health is based on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and provides telehealth visits for eligible patients in New York. Our office will help determine whether telehealth is appropriate for your concern or whether an in-person appointment is recommended.

Telehealth is best for appropriate non-emergency concerns. If symptoms require a physical exam, vital signs, testing, or urgent evaluation, an in-person visit may be needed.

What Can Be Handled by Telehealth?

Telehealth may be appropriate for many routine primary care needs, especially when your provider can safely evaluate the concern by history, video, phone discussion, prior records, or recent lab results.

Lab Review

Discuss blood work results, cholesterol, Hemoglobin A1C, thyroid tests, vitamin levels, kidney function, liver enzymes, and follow-up steps.

Medication Follow-Ups

Review current medications, side effects, refills, dose changes, and whether additional testing is needed.

Chronic Condition Check-Ins

Follow up for high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol problems, thyroid disease, anemia, kidney concerns, and other chronic conditions.

Non-Emergency Sick Visits

Some cough, cold, allergy, sinus, stomach, urinary, skin, and general symptoms may be reviewed remotely when appropriate.

Specialist Referrals

Discuss symptoms, prior results, and whether a referral to a specialist may be medically appropriate.

Follow-Up Care

Review progress after a prior office visit, urgent care visit, ER visit, hospital discharge, or specialist appointment.

When Telehealth May Not Be Enough

Some symptoms require an in-person visit, urgent care, or emergency evaluation. Telehealth is not a replacement for emergency care or situations where a physical examination, vital signs, imaging, or immediate testing is needed.

Call 911 or go to the emergency room for severe chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke symptoms, severe weakness, fainting, severe allergic reaction, severe abdominal pain, uncontrolled bleeding, or any life-threatening emergency.

How Telehealth Visits Work

Telehealth for Medication Refills

Telehealth may be useful for medication refill visits, especially when your condition is stable and recent monitoring is available. Some medications require blood pressure checks, lab testing, controlled-substance review, or an in-person evaluation.

If blood work or vital signs are needed before a refill, our office will let you know the next step.

Telehealth vs. In-Person Primary Care

Telehealth is convenient, but it does not replace the value of a physical examination when one is needed. Many patients use both: telehealth for appropriate follow-ups and in-person visits for annual physical exams, new symptoms, testing, procedures, and hands-on evaluations.

For preventive care, annual physical exams, EKGs, injections, certain screenings, and diagnostic testing, an in-person appointment at our Upper East Side office may be recommended.
